Immediately upon arrival at Casa Farolito, your day to day concerns will diminish and you will enjoy each moment to the fullest with the gracious hospitality of your hosts, Lorraine and Peter Pontell. Their experience, warmth and genuine concern will make your stay a truly memorable one.
Relax and enjoy a tasty breakfast of fresh fruit, cereal, eggs, huevos rancheros (our specialty), choice of homemade muffins or bolillos and jam while you watch dolphins frolicking in the ocean
The house is located in San Antonio del Mar, a gated beachfront community of Mexicans and retired Americans. It is about five minutes from the town of Rosarito Beach where you can find everything from curio shops, art galleries, artisans in wood, tile, metal and ceramics, to restaurants, and movie theaters. Rosarito also boasts the famous Rosarito Beach Hotel and Fox Studios where the movie "Titanic" was made and where a major motion picture is currently under production.
A bit further away, you can visit the beautiful city of San Diego, home to Seaworld, the world famous San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park with it's 12 museums, the Del Coronado Hotel, La Jolla and the Gaslamp District to name just a few. South of us you can take a beautifull scenic one hour drive along the coast to the bustling cruise ship port of Ensenada and visit it's many fine restaurants and shops.
Still further south is La Bufadora, one of the world's largest natural blowholes. From Ensenada, it's a short drive to the Wine Country of Guadalupe Valley which boasts many world class wineries
If you're not up to exploring, you can just relax on our spacious patio in the warm Baja sun or in the cool shade beneath our Mexican Palapa and watch the ever present dolphins frolicking in the waves. After an invigorating stroll along the sandy shore, the soothing sound of the waves will lull you to sleep in your cozy room.
